Course Overview:

This ONLINE course details the methodology for calculating vehicle speed from video footage. Ideally suited to video analysts who routinely calculate vehicle speeds and positions from video footage. A computer, with Zoom access, webcam and microphone is required. No special forensic video/imaging software is required.

Class Times:  1000 – 1800 EDT (UTC -5).

Objectives:

  • Upon completion of the course, students will be examined on the theories that underpin the techniques on the course, where successful candidates will be able to: 
  • Identify the time interval between images 
  • Identify the recording pattern of time intervals 
  • Identify the most effective technique for establishing vehicle positions in various footage 
  • Identify corrections that need to be applied to images 
  • Identify errors/tolerances in calculations

Who Can Apply

LEVA membership is not required. There are no qualification prerequisites for this course. Whilst previous work in the field and/or LEVA 1 and 2 would provide a good basis, no formal training is required.

LEVA will issue a certificate to each student.
