LEVA’s 27th Annual Video Evidence and Training Symposium ended Friday night, November 18, in Scottsdale, AZ.

Newly LEVA Certified Forensic Video Analysts were introduced: Christi Noebel, Dallas County District Attorney's Office, TX; Chris Stoddard, Vancouver Police Department, BC; Jake Blythe, Key Forensic Services, Coventry, England.

Not only were agencies and companies represented from across the US and Canada, but outside of North America as well. There were attendees from Switzerland, Sweden, England, Brazil and Nigeria.

Paul Galanthay from the Geneva Police Department in Switzerland was singled out during the banquet. He brought 11 pounds of Swiss candy with him to share with his colleagues during the week. At the banquet, the favor was returned.  He was presented with three large Hershey bars. When he got back to his seat, he was called back to the podium four more times. Along with the Hershey bars, he ended up with five big bags of a variety of different "real" chocolate candy to take home and share with family, co-workers and the Swiss population. Included were Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Reeses, Babe Ruth, Twix, Butterfinger, Milky Way, Kit Kat, Nestles Crunch and a huge bag of M&Ms...the good stuff.

LEVA 2017 will be October 16-20 in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Details coming soon!

The Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association International (LEVA) applauds the findings of the Texas Forensic Science Commission’s report, “Forensic Video Analysis – Height Determination Complaint Filed on Behalf of George R. Powell, III. Analyst Self-Disclosure,” which was finalized in April. The findings demonstrated the importance of having trained professionals in the science of forensic video analysis processing video evidence and presenting results in a court of law.
